Meet the Coach: Mady Robinson, Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach
Penn State Schuylkill alumna Maddy Robinson is back on the sidelines. Get to know the newest volunteer coach for Nittany Lions Women's Volleyball.
For Maddy Robinson, returning to Penn State Schuylkill is an opportunity to give back to the program that helped shape her as both a student-athlete and a person. Entering her first year as a Volunteer Coach for the Women's Volleyball team, Robinson returns to her alma mater after previously serving as an assistant coach and competing as one of the program's most accomplished players.
Robinson's love for volleyball began more than 12 years ago and has since grown into a passion for coaching. After years of playing, she knew she wanted to help the next generation of athletes develop both their skills and confidence.
"I wanted to go back to my roots and show girls what I know," Robinson said.
As she begins her first season as a volunteer coach with the Nittany Lions, Robinson has one goal in mind.
"PSUAC Championship," she said.
When working with student-athletes, Robinson looks for players who are outgoing, eager to learn, and willing to keep an open mind. She believes those qualities create an environment where athletes can continue growing both individually and as teammates.
Among her favorite volleyball memories is surpassing Penn State Schuylkill's all-time records for kills and blocks during her playing career, accomplishments that reflect her dedication and impact on the program.
Her advice for student-athletes is one she hopes they'll carry beyond the court.
"Never doubt yourself, even if you are in a bad spot," Robinson said. "Chances are, you won't even remember it in a year."
Now serving in a new role on the sidelines, Robinson is excited to give back to the program that gave her so much by helping the next generation of Nittany Lions reach their full potential.
Fun fact: Robinson hasn't seen her natural hair color in 10 years—she's actually a strawberry blonde!
