Nick Evangelista is set to enter his 4th season as the head coach of Penn State Schuylkill in 2026-27.

 

In Evangelista's 3rd season, he led the Nittany Lions to another 30 win season, tying the regular season wins record. Dylan Siwik was named PSUAC Pitcher of the Year and was voted as a USCAA All-American. Roman Cieless and Conner Licklider were also tabbed PSUAC All-Conference and USCAA All-Americans. Joey Ruggiero, Andrew Klotz, Tyler Shuey, Shawn Pallay, and Dan Zimmerman were All-conference seletctions. 

 

The Nittany Lions captured their second straight PSUAC East Division title in 2025, going 16-4 in conference play and matching 31 overall victories. Owen Zimmerman was named PSUAC Player of the Year and USCAA All-American. Roman Cieless was voted PSUAC Rookie of the Year as well as USCAA All-American. Brenan Adams was picked as a USCAA All-American and PSUAC All-Conference. Dan Zimmerman, Tristan Baer, Yostin Guerrero were All-Conference picks.

 

In Evangelista’s inaugural 2024 season, he led the Nittany Lions to a Penn State Athletic University Conference (PSUAC) East Division title, United States Collegiate Athletic Association World Series Appearance (USCAA), and a school record 31 victories. Under his guidance, Zimmerman became the school’s first USCAA Player of the Year, along with PSUAC Player of the Year. Tristan Baer was tabbed as the Pitcher of the Year and USCAA All-American. Licklider was named PSUAC Rookie of the Year. Brenan Adams, Nate Gilbert, Ethan Naftzinger, RayJay Marmolejos, and Owen Shoop were All-Conference selections.

 

Prior to Penn State Schuylkill, Evangelista coached at Hamburg Area High School for 13 seasons (2011-2023), compiling a record of 181-107. He led the Hawks to a PIAA 3A District 3 Championship in 2016, and the PIAA state semi-finals in 2016 and 2019. He also coached the Hamburg Legion team to a pair of Division II state championships in 2017 and 2018.

 

Evangelista is a 2000 graduate of Hamburg Area High School, and a 2004 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he was named Athlete of the Year and drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies. He spent four years in the organization, reaching the AA level with the Reading Phillies.

 

Evangelista resides in nearby Hamburg with his wife Amy and two daughters, Eva and Gia.
