Weekend Recap
Penn State Schuylkill welcomed Mount St. Mary's, Kean, and Mercy to campus for an ECAC opening-weekend showcase that matched the conference's tone right away—competitive, fast, athletic, and supportive across sidelines. The weekend began with all four programs sharing in a first-class media day experience hosted by the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Friday, setting the stage for a Saturday filled with high-level play and a strong sense of respect between teams and coaching staffs.
Game 1: Kean def. Penn State Schuylkill, 26-18
Schuylkill struck first and traded punches early, but Kean capitalized on momentum-swing moments—especially turnovers—to edge the Lions in the opener. The Lions opened with a crisp 66-yard drive capped by Abree Brown's 2-yard touchdown pass to Amanda Burns for a 6-0 lead. Kean answered quickly in the second quarter with a long touchdown connection to tie it, and Schuylkill responded again as Brown found Miranda Morstatt for a 15-yard TD to regain the lead, 12-6.
The game turned in the second quarter and early third when Kean converted explosive plays into points and seized control. After Kean pulled ahead 13-12 late in the half, the momentum swung again when Kean snagged an interception and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 19-12. Kean added another touchdown to open the fourth to build a 26-12 cushion.
Schuylkill showed fight down the stretch, driving 66 yards for a late score—Brown's 14-yard touchdown pass to Burns—to cut it to 26-18, but the Lions ran out of time on the final possession.

Game 2: Penn State Schuylkill def. Mercy, 28-6
The Lions responded the way you want to see on day one of conference play—fast start, opportunistic defense, and a strong finish. Schuylkill scored on its opening drive with Brown connecting with Burns for a 5-yard touchdown, then answered Mercy's quick tying score by ripping off three straight touchdowns to pull away.

Miranda Morstatt hauled in a 6-yard TD to make it 13-6, and the Lions' defense flipped the game with takeaways—including two interceptions returned for 40 yards by Amanda Burns—that consistently gave Schuylkill short fields or stopped Mercy threats.
