Lions Fall at Bloomfield in First Game Back from Break
Penn State Schuylkill returned from break with energy and momentum, battling Bloomfield in a tough road test.
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Penn State Schuylkill Men's Basketball returned to action for the first time following Christmas break on Saturday afternoon, falling to Bloomfield College, 91-60, inside the Bloomfield College Gym.
The Lions came out with strong early energy and battled closely through the opening half, trailing just 34-33 at the break. Schuylkill was able to stay within striking distance behind steady scoring from several starters and a defensive effort that forced Bloomfield into a low-percentage first half.
However, Bloomfield took control after halftime, outscoring the Lions 57-27 over the final 20 minutes to pull away and secure the win.
Amir Gray led Penn State Schuylkill with 18 points, adding five rebounds, two assists, and a standout defensive effort with seven steals. Dekari Harrell provided an efficient scoring spark with 12 points, knocking down three triples, while Devin Adams Jr. finished with 11 points and a team-high five assists. Trey Gould added six points and five rebounds off the bench, and Lee Newton chipped in six points.
Bloomfield was dominant on the glass, finishing with a 68-30 rebounding advantage, including 29 offensive rebounds, which led to multiple second-chance opportunities in the second half.
Penn State Schuylkill will look to regroup quickly as the Lions continue their road stretch with a nonconference matchup against a USCAA opponent at Bucks County Community College on Wednesday night.
