Lions Battle to the Finish in Narrow Road Loss at Beaver
Penn State Schuylkill battled to the final horn but came up just short in a four-point road thriller at Beaver.
BEAVER, Pa. — Penn State Schuylkill men's basketball went toe-to-toe with Penn State Beaver on Friday night, but came up just short in a hard-fought road contest, falling 75-71 in the Beaver Fieldhouse.
The Lions showed grit after trailing 41-33 at halftime, outscoring Beaver 38-34 in the second half and making it a one-possession game down the stretch. Schuylkill's effort was highlighted by strong interior play, tough defense, and timely scoring runs as the Lions pushed until the final buzzer.
Bryce Hensley led the way with a dominant performance, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting while pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. Amir Gray added 11 points, while Dekari Harrell chipped in 10 points and multiple hustle plays on both ends. Issac Lane provided a big lift off the bench with nine points and six rebounds, and Lee Newton contributed eight points with strong two-way effort.
Penn State Schuylkill will look to bounce back quickly as they return to action today (Saturday) with a road matchup at Penn State Fayette, with tipoff set for 2:00 PM.
