Men’s Volleyball Shows Growth in Home Opener Against Elizabethtown

The Lions battled hard in their first home match of the season, showcasing bright spots and determination as they continue building their program.

    Box Score

In their first home match of the season, Penn State Schuylkill men's volleyball faced a tough opponent in Elizabethtown, falling in straight sets (15-25, 7-25, 12-25). The team, still building and developing their program, demonstrated moments of promise and resilience as they navigate early challenges in this growing season.

    Key Highlights:

    • Reno Plesnarski led the Lions' offense with 6 kills and 4 digs, contributing 7 total points for the team. His performance showed leadership and the ability to make plays under pressure.
    • Devon Simak delivered an efficient .500 hitting percentage with 4 kills on 6 attempts. His quick reactions and accuracy were critical in keeping Schuylkill competitive in stretches of the match.
    • Defensively, Jeremiah Miller and Zach Fisher stepped up at the net, each contributing 2 blocks to disrupt Elizabethtown's attack.
    • The team recorded 11 digs, with players like Liam Ruggie facilitating the defense and distributing the ball with 11 assists.

Despite facing a strong and experienced Elizabethtown squad, Schuylkill found valuable learning experiences in this match. The coaching staff is optimistic as they continue to refine strategy, improve consistency, and develop their chemistry on the court.

The Lions will look to rebound with lessons learned today, February 1, when they head to John Jay College for a tri-match that includes a game against Widener.

Let's show our support and cheer on the team as they continue to build a foundation for future success!
