Emma Crisswell Named PSUAC Pitcher of the Year
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference unveiled its 2024 Softball All-Conference roster on Friday. Emma Crisswell was honored as Pitcher of the Year, with five players receiving recognition for their contributions throughout the season.
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference unveiled its 2024 Softball All-Conference roster on Friday. Emma Crisswell was honored as Pitcher of the Year, with five players receiving recognition for their contributions throughout the season.
Newcomer Emma Crisswell (Williamstown, PA / Williams Valley High School) made an immediate impact on the mound, amassing 218 strikeouts during the year, nearly 100 more than her closest competitor. Crisswell dominated every pitching category, leading the PSUAC in wins (16), complete games (18), strikeouts per game (10.50), ERA (1.35), and WHIP (.97). At the plate, Crisswell concluded the season with 32 hits, securing the 11th highest batting average in the conference at .427.
Also earning first-team honors is Freshman Jade Weiss (Pottsville, PA / Pottsville Area High School). Weiss ranked tenth in hits with 46, boasting an average of .407. She hit three home runs, tying for 11th in the conference. Additionally, Weiss finished 6th in stolen bases (19), 8th in runs (38), and 9th in triples (2).
Alyssa Youst (Schuylkill Haven, PA / Blue Mountain High School) earned a spot on the second team after tallying 42 hits and 11 doubles throughout the year. Youst ranked tenth overall in the PSUAC with 34 RBIs, achieving milestones of her 100th career hit and 100th career RBI during the season.
Kaely Walshaw (Dornsife, PA / Line Mountain High School), Morgan Kleckner (Hamburg, PA / Hamburg Area High School), and Megan Marks (Lancaster, PA / Manheim Township High School) received recognition on the honorable mention team. Walshaw secured fifth place in the PSUAC for complete games (10), sixth in strikeouts (68), and ninth in wins (6). In terms of averages, Walshaw finished fourth in strikeouts per game (6.67), sixth in ERA (3.73), and eighth in WHIP (1.58). She also recorded 35 hits, placing 20th in RBIs with 27, and hit four home runs, tying for fourth in the conference. Walshaw achieved milestones of her 100th career hit and 100th career RBI during the season.
Kleckner wrapped up the season with 30 hits, ranking ninth in triples (2) and 14th in home runs (2). She also secured 30 runs, placing 15th in the conference. Freshman Megan Marks recorded 27 hits and 3 home runs, tying for 11th in the conference.
Brittany Kozlosky (Shenandoah, PA / Shenandoah Valley High School) received the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award which is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season.
