Game 1: SUNY Morrisville 6, Penn State Schuylkill 3
Penn State Schuylkill opened the day with a hard-fought matchup against SUNY Morrisville but fell short in a 6-3 decision. The Lions struck first, putting up three runs in the second inning thanks to a clutch two-RBI single from Mackenzie Carl and an RBI from Megan Marks on a miscue by Morrisville's defense.
Morrisville responded quickly, tying the game at 3-3 in the third, capitalizing on key hits from C. Lafontain and E. Sawitzki. A three-run fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI single from P. Kaylor and a fielder's choice by Lafontain, sealed the win for the Mustangs.
Despite strong performances at the plate from Isabela Caruso (2-for-3) and Tayla Jones (2-for-4, 1 R), Schuylkill struggled to push runs across after the second inning. On the mound, Kaely Walshaw took the loss, allowing six runs over 4.2 innings while striking out five. Megan Marks provided 2.1 innings of solid relief, holding Morrisville scoreless.
Game 2: FDU-Florham 11, Penn State Schuylkill 2
In the second game of the day, Penn State Schuylkill started strong but couldn't hold off a surging FDU-Florham offense, falling 11-2.
The Lions grabbed an early lead in the third inning after Tayla Jones scored on a throwing error, followed by an RBI single from Emma Crisswell to make it 2-0. However, FDU-Florham found its rhythm in the fourth, scoring a run before exploding for five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to secure the victory.
The Devils racked up 17 hits, with A. Rodriguez (3-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 2B) and J. Lambright (2-for-3, 2 RBI) leading the charge. Schuylkill's Emma Crisswell (1-3, RBI) and Kaely Walshaw (1-3, R) contributed offensively, but the team was limited to just five hits in the contest.
Crisswell (1-3) took the loss in the circle, allowing six earned runs over 4.1 innings, while Miranda Hess pitched the final 1.2 innings.
