Crockett, Novak Honored on PSUAC All-Conference Team
Ava Novak and Allison Crockett were honored on the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference All-Conference East Division Second Team for their play during the 2023-2024 Women’s Basketball season.
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. - Ava Novak and Allison Crockett were honored on the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference All-Conference East Division Second Team for their play during the 2023-2024 Women's Basketball season.
The freshman guard makes her first appearance on the PSUAC All-Conference Team after posting averages of 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Ava Novak (Numidia, PA / Southern Columbia High School) scored 418 total points on the year, which ranked seventh overall in the entire PSUAC. The freshman guard was a consistent scoring threat all season long, scoring in double figures in 22 out of 31 games played and surpassing the 20-point threshold seven times. Novak notched her season-high of 24 points in a win against Central Penn College.
Noval also ranked fifth in the conference in total field goals made (159) and ninth in three pointers made (52). In addition to scoring the basketball, Novak was also a consistent presence on the boards, grabbing 242 total on the year which placed her sixth in the PSUAC. Novak completed the year with 36 total steals.
Also making her first appearance on the All-Conference team is Allison Crockett (Liverpool, PA / Greenwood High School). The junior forward ended the season with 294 total points in 27 games played, giving her an average of 10.9 points per game. Crockett was a knock-down shooter from behind the three-point line throughout the season and it is evident in her 51 made three pointers on the year, good for tenth overall in the PSUAC. Her 32 percent from beyond the arc also ranked in the top ten in the conference, seventh overall. When fouled, Crockett connected on 74.7 percent of her shots from the charity stripe, which ranked number five overall in the PSUAC.
A consistent part of Schuylkill's offense, Crockett scored in double figures in 19 out of 27 games played. Crockett hit over four threes on five different occasions, including her season-high number of five against Penn State Brandywine in February. Crockett also scored her season-high of 21 points in the same contest. On the defensive side of the basketball, Crockett finished the year with 34 steals and 29 blocks.
Malak Mowafi (Iselin, NJ / John F Kennedy Memorial High School) received the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award which is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season. Mowafi started in 26 out of 29 games for Schuylkill at the guard spot.
