Penn State Schuylkill women's basketball dropped an 81–34 decision on Saturday afternoon at Penn College, as the Wildcats used efficient shooting and a strong interior presence to pull away early in the nonconference matchup.
Ava Novak paced Schuylkill with 11 points and 7 rebounds, knocking down a three and serving as the team's most consistent offensive threat. Katelyn Otto added 9 points and 7 boards, working hard on the glass, while Mikayla Johnson scored 6 points on a pair of threes. Serena Jones finished with 4 points, 3 rebounds, and a block, and Tayla Jones contributed 3 assists and 5 rebounds in her steady floor game.
Despite stretches of strong defensive effort, the Lions couldn't overcome Penn College's 46.7% shooting from the field and 45–29 rebounding advantage. Schuylkill was held to 26.5% from the floor and 3-for-10 from deep, struggling to find rhythm against the Wildcats' length and pace.
Schuylkill (3–7) will look to regroup quickly with another road test ahead. The Lions travel to Centenary on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. nonconference matchup.
