Young Lions Gain Valuable Experience in Road Test at Beaver
Short-handed and battling through adversity, the Lions gained valuable experience in a tough road test at Beaver.
BEAVER, Pa. — Despite a difficult road test against one of the top teams in the PSUAC, the Penn State Schuylkill women's basketball team battled through adversity on Friday night, falling 98-28 at Penn State Beaver.
Playing with a thinner roster than usual, the Lions leaned on key contributors for heavy minutes while continuing to gain important experience as a young squad. Schuylkill showed resilience through four quarters and will look to build from the challenge as the team approaches the second half of the season with perspective and poise.
Mikayla Johnson led the Lions with 10 points, knocking down two three-pointers while adding three assists and two steals. Tayla Jones contributed six points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Katelyn Otto added eight points and seven rebounds in extended action.
Even in a challenging result, the Lions will use this contest as a learning opportunity as they continue to develop consistency, execution, and confidence moving forward as a smaller unit.
Penn State Schuylkill returns to action today (Saturday) with a road matchup at Penn State Fayette, set for 12:00 PM.
