Short-Handed Lions Continue to Compete at Cedar Crest
Penn State Schuylkill showed resilience and heart in a tough road test at Cedar Crest.
The Penn State Schuylkill women's basketball team battled through significant adversity on Wednesday night, traveling to Cedar Crest while continuing to compete shorthanded due to injuries. Playing with only five available student-athletes, the Lions fought for all four quarters but ultimately fell to the Falcons, 104-14, in Allentown.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Schuylkill showed toughness and persistence throughout the contest, with the group logging heavy minutes and continuing to play through fatigue. Mikayla Johnson, Madison Cooper, Katelyn Otto, Megan Hauser, and Tayla Jones each started and helped carry the full workload on both ends of the floor.
Schuylkill's effort was highlighted by Madison Cooper's team-high 7 rebounds, while the Lions also finished with 29 total rebounds as they continued to battle inside despite a major disadvantage in numbers and depth. Tayla Jones provided energy on the defensive end and recorded 2 steals, continuing to lead with toughness and effort.
While the score reflected the challenge of playing with a limited roster, the Lions continued to show resilience and determination—traits that remain the foundation of the program as the team works toward getting healthier and stronger moving forward.
