Women's Soccer Blows By Valley Forge in Season Opener
Women's Soccer defeated NCAA Division III opponent University of Valley Forge in their season opener this past Friday. Mackenzie Miller led the way with 3 goals.
PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – Women's Soccer opened their season on the road against NCAA Division III opponent University of Valley Forge on Friday, defeating Valley Forge 7-0.
Brittney Bartasavage (Andreas, PA / Lehighton Area) got things started for Schuylkill, scoring at the 14:41 mark unassisted. Zoe Gannon (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley) extended Schuylkill's lead to 2-0 after finding the goal at the 23:11 mark. Schuylkill came out very aggressive in the first period, totaling 16 shots.
Mackenzie Miller (Auburn, PA / Nativity BVM) found Zoe Gannon (Leesport, PA / Schuylkill Valley) for her second goal of the contest less than five minutes into the second half. Gannon returned the favor, finding Miller for her first career goal at 62:16. Miller did not let up as she went on to score two more times at 75:54 and at 82:05. Evelyn Crall (Chillicothe, OH / Chillicothe) scored the final goal for Schuylkill with less than four minutes to go in regulation.
Schuylkill totaled 23 shots on goal for the contest. Goalkeeper Victoria Grimm (Jonestown, PA / Northern Lebanon Area) won her matchup, finishing with a save and allowing no goals in the victory.
Schuylkill (1-0 overall, 0-0 PSUAC) will compete at home for the first time this season on Wednesday, September 16 as the host NAIA opponent Washington Adventist. Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
