Penn State Schuylkill women's soccer closed the 2025 season on Sunday, falling 9–0 to Cincinnati Clermont in their second game of the USCAA National Tournament. While the on-field results didn't go the Lions' way this weekend, the significance of the program's first-ever national tournament berth and the lasting experiences gained far outweighed the final score.
Schuylkill battled through a talented field and faced two opponents they had never played before, including a Clermont squad that entered the postseason with momentum and offensive firepower. Victoria Grimm stood tall in goal, recording 12 saves while facing 40 total shots, and the Lions produced six shots of their own, including on-target attempts from Makenzie Wechsler and Abigail Klokis.
Beyond the results, the trip marked a milestone moment for the program. The Lions embraced the opportunity to compete on a national stage for the first time, grow through high-level competition, and strengthen team chemistry. The weekend included team bonding activities throughout the Pittsburgh area, shared meals, and experiences that helped bring the group closer together—memories that will carry forward long after the final whistle.
Penn State Schuylkill closes the year at 12–7 (perfect 8-0 in PSUAC play), celebrating a historic season that featured a PSUAC championship, strong individual performances, and the program's inaugural appearance on the national stage. The Lions return home proud of their accomplishments and excited about the future they are building together.
