Penn State Schuylkill closed out the regular season with a four-game nonconference sweep over Bucks County Community College, earning wins of 9-5, 11-1, 11-1, and 6-3 across two doubleheaders.
Schuylkill's offense was consistent throughout the series, scoring 37 runs on 45 hits while getting production from the top of the order and throughout the lineup. Roman Cieless, Andrew Klotz, Joey Ruggiero, Conner Licklider, Dan Zimmerman, Shawn Pallay, Tyler Shuey, and others all delivered key moments as Schuylkill continued to build momentum heading into postseason play.
In the opener, Schuylkill battled back for a 9-5 win, highlighted by a home run from Klotz, three hits from Cieless, and two RBI from Zimmerman. Braden Collazo earned the win in relief, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
Game two saw Schuylkill roll to an 11-1 five-inning victory, powered by a nine-run fifth inning. Klotz went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored, while Cieless added two hits and three RBI. Dylan Siwik was strong on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out six in the complete-game win.
On Sunday, Schuylkill opened the day with another 11-1 win, this time in six innings. Ruggiero went 3-for-4, Cieless added three hits and two RBI, and Klotz drove in three runs. Tyler Shuey earned the win with six strong innings, allowing just five hits and no earned runs while striking out four.
Schuylkill completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in the series finale. Owen Shoop went the distance, allowing three runs with six strikeouts and no walks. Offensively, Ruggiero doubled twice and drove in two, while Klotz added two hits and two RBI. Schuylkill broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning, capped by Klotz's two-run single.
The four-game sweep gives Schuylkill a strong finish to the regular season and valuable momentum as the team turns its attention to the postseason PSUAC Playoffs in Dubois this upcoming weekend.
The series was also a special one for Schuylkill, as Roman Cieless recorded his 100th career hit, adding another milestone to his standout career. The program also took time to honor seniors Owen Shoop and Aidan Murhon for their dedication and contributions to Penn State Schuylkill Baseball.
