Penn State Schuylkill fired off 59 shots and converted 12 goals in a commanding PSUAC-opening win over Penn State Hazleton.
In their home opener, the Nittany Lions wasted no time asserting control, scoring twice in the opening five minutes and rolling to a 12–0 victory. Nia Bronson led the way with a hat trick and an assist, scoring in both halves and showing her finishing ability.
The scoring was spread across the lineup: Jesenia Landaverde added two goals, while Madison Warnack, Payton Frantz, Grace Fenstermacher, Kay Lee Morgan, Haley Sypniewski, Abigail Klokis, and Leah Alexander each tallied one. Klokis also dished out two assists, while Fenstermacher, Warnack, and Alexander each added helpers.
Defensively, the Lions were nearly flawless, allowing just one shot all match. Goalkeeper Victoria Grimm needed only one save to secure her first win of the season.
Schuylkill dominated possession, racking up 20 corner kicks and limiting Hazleton to a single attempt on goal. With the victory, the Lions improve to 1-1 overall and 1–0 in PSUAC play.
Next up, Penn State Schuylkill looks to continue its strong start as they build momentum and travel to Keystone College on the 11th for a 4pm nonconfernce kickoff.
